acquaintances

I ended my first weekend with having explored the life of a French. As I have been surrounded by French in NYC, I had various introductions to friends of friends. So Saturday I rented a car in hopes of exploring Le Luberon and other towns. But Tiger my faithful companion threw up and did not stop, I spent 4 hours on the road first north and then headed south to Cassis - no parking for tourists that do not know the way of finding Free parking- the little one exhausted me so I headed to Marseilles where I was meeting my friends' friend for a picnic in St. Cyr.

It was great by the seaside. tons of food and petanque (bocce ball). I was introduced to saucisson, various cheeses (not unfamiliar from my tastings) and cote d'azur frigid weather in the evenings EVEN in the summer! It is the peacefulness of social life in Europe that attracts me to these shores. I find it non pretentious, peaceful and sincere. The intimate settings requires the thought process to be inline and views in the same angle. Unlike encounters in NYC where they are often energized and testosterone charged, I find life here natural to life's needs not wants.
